BALI 3 Days Itinerary 2015

What places to go, where and when to go, what to do, where to eat, if you only have 3 days in Bali?

This is my 3 days Bali itinerary for my trip with a friend on November 28th 2015.
Theme: Road Trip, Beach and Nature, Culinary

Ps. The Streets in Bali’s new developed areas are unpredictable, there might be different as it’s being developed, the streets are sometimes too small and Google Maps will show you the closest way by taking some adventurous unexpected roads, instead of going to a bypass, or highway, or main street. If you drive a car in Bali, it will be a little less convenient than a motorcycle because sometimes place in Bali doesn’t have parking lot, although some has a parking lot in near area.
We rent an Agya Matic car for Rp. 200.000 per day (24 hours), this car has a very efficient fuel system, you don’t need a lot, it’s easy and comfortable to drive. Very recommended.

FIRST DAY we went to Uluwatu, Pecatu area to explore the beaches.
There are plenty such as Dreamland, Balangan Beach, Padang-padang Beach, Suluban or Blue Point Beach, all have different characteristic. We had been to some of them, so this time we went to beach we never went. Suluban / Blue Point. We followed surfers headed to a beach.. The stairs and entrance to this beach is quite unique, a small path that goes under the hills. The sands are practically under a cave. The waves were strong, so it’s not suitable to swim or to play in the water plus the beach is too narrow. Before we went down to the beach, we stopped at one of the cafe called Surya Cafe, a funny thing happened, the lady who serves there was totally rude to everyone. She threw menus to people, angrily told customers to wait for the food, and kept insulting people. My friend ordered a toast bread but it took to long so she went to her to ask, before she could even ask, the lady waiter started to rant “wait, I’ve told you to wait since a long time” LOL. So she came back and I was already feeling weird about the place, I said let’s just leave, then another waiter; a guy came and said “sorry it wasn’t me, it’s her, she also likes to scold me”, so we ate fast and when she paid, the lady waiter ranted again “you only bought a bread that cost 8 thousand rupiahs but blablabla” it was hilarious!
But the view for the hills are amazing, you could see the beach, the patios, the sky and the ocean from up high.

Suluban / Blue Point Beach

After that we went to Balangan Beach, just 10 minutes from Suluban. We can reach with car and there are big space for parking, just went down from anywhere possible cos the beach are visible, a long strip with beach bars and patios on beach line. We rent 2 beach patios with umbrella for Rp. 100.000, you can use the whole day, as long as you want. You can even leave it and come back (just leave your towel and stuff). Eat, drinks, shower are available at the beach bars. It’s good to spend time on the beach, sunbathing, or dip into the water, but be careful of the rocks, corals, in the coastline, don’t walk on it, just swim a little further to float on the water without risk to bump into the rocks. I don’t want to leave but my friend was hungry and we were planning to go to Echo Beach at Canggu for sunset. But…. the traffic was heavy and we thought we won’t make it to the Echo Beach, so since we got to Seminyak Area I suggested we go to Motel Mexicola, turned out we loved it so much, the place, the services, the food! Mucho buenoooo….great ambience, food and service were great, nice staffs, valet service, very very cute and interesting decor. Great food such as Pollo quesadilla with salsa, soft shell crab taco, and refreshing drinks.

SECOND DAY - UBUD

I woke up at 3 am the next day, managed to write a poem, and searched Bali on Instagram. I stumbled on Ubud Campuhan Ridge trail, magnificent view of sunrise, one single trail, rice paddies, river, temple, straw grass, it was perfect. The trek itself is about 2 km.
How to get there: find Warwick Ibah Hotel, then there’ll be a little alley keep walking til you find a school on your left, keep walking and walk down on the right, just follow the road for 15 minutes and you will be amazed.

Campuhan Ridge

We searched a place for breakfast, and found on Zomato and TripAdvisor about KAFE, not many place in ubud is open for breakfast, but KAFE serves great food, healthy, raw, and organic choices. I ate sauted mushroom and spinach and we drink african red tea in a pot enough for two, and banana almond smoothie.

Later we visited the Ubud Palace, it’s like a Keraton in Java but the public area is smaller, but you get to see the temple. Then went to some museums: The Blanco Museum, entrance fee is Rp. 35.000,- per person, walk around property of Blanco, it was cool to see Antonio Blanco’s arts and kind of dipped into his world, his mind, his explorations, his fantasy. Inspiring. We planned to go to Museum Marketing 3.0 by MarkPlus Inc. located in Museum Puri Lukisan. The entrance is free for the Museum Marketing but for Museum Puri Lukisan it’s Rp. 85.000 per person. I searched on the internet what’s inside, they have a pool and garden, and paintings (but I wasn’t really interested) so we went just to the Museum Marketing, there was no one, but we enjoyed the high tech exhibition with LCD TV, tablets, books, it’s cozy, we had a convo with a guy from MarkPlus.Inc about digital marketing and stuffs without we realize it was kind of late. So we went for lunch at Melting Wok but sadly that place closed on Mondays :( We went to Biah-biah, food was okay, not so special but cheaper.

From Instagram, I knew there are beaches in Cemagi village in Canggu. Mengening beach, Villa Ombak Putih, Cemagi Beach, they are all sort of connected, it’s secluded, with hillside, rocks, limestones, and sandy ground. Perfect to enjoy sunset as you can see closely a very clear sunset, no bars, no cafes, no crowds, just a couple of people, photographers capturing beautiful views.

Cemagi Beach

Later at night, we checked in to Vasanti Seminyak Resort (I booked this hotel with very cheap voucher from Blibur.com, it’s a 4 stars hotel which recently got an award. I must say they deserved it and I got so lucky to bought the voucher for such low price! That place is so nice, the room is comfortable, pool area with pool bar, you’ll get a welcome drink of their signature cocktail which you can redeem at Above, the lounge on top of the hotel. They offer boogie ride to some area in Seminyak, such as Potato Head, La Lucciola, etc.

Dinner: BOSSMAN based on recommendation for our budget, we picked this famous burger joint. The first time it melts in our tongue, just perfect, portion kinda big, add french fries - enough for 2 persons.

THIRD DAY

The next day, we woke up early to go walking along the Seminyak Beach. Tip: Go before 8 am, it’s the perfect time to walk or run. I personally love to see the locals run, taking their dogs out to the beach, meeting local dogs, playing around, it’s calm and fresh. We went back to the hotel for breakfast, spent some time relaxing by the pool, making some underwater videos, then take a shower, ready to check out.

Lunch at Sea Circus, this place is famous amongst Indonesian because many celebgrams and bloggers promoted this super cute small restaurant. The interior details are fun and cute. Pastels dominated color, so me. Food was okay. Then headed to.....

Gusto Gelato to have dessert. Also famous as the best gelato in Bali, coming there with high expectation, I chose a recommended flavor, it was too sweet, but thank God I chose to compliment it with yogurt flavor. If you don’t really like sweet ice cream, don’t be afraid to choose their fruit flavor selection, especially when the day is extremely hot, go with fresh, sour, sweet, fruit flavor.

Went to Krisna to shop some oleh-oleh for family and friends then choosing a place not too far from the Airport, no traffic, and choice were made to Jimbaran in Nusa Dua area. Although we've been there before, we still decided to have dinner and enjoy the sunset here for seafood and it's atmosphere.

We didn’t get to explore the beaches at the south such as Nyang-Nyang Beach and Green Bowl Beach because of one many reasons. Of course I would like to come back, or even spend months in Bali to explore, especially another area like Menjangan, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida, stay at the Le Pirate, the north of Bali, exploring more cultural village and traditional events. So, stay tune and check out the video I made from footage we took, don't forget to subscribe ;)
